Doctor Who (TV show)

So here it is! Our first review...so without further adieu Doctor Who.

What James thought:
I have watched Doctor Who several times...and I must say that it gets less confusing every time I watch it over...not that its really confusing but somethings get less complicated the more times I watch. With every Doctor regeneration I feel like I lost something only to find that I love the new Doctor as well...except Christopher Eccleston...although he was great I thought that Christopher Eccleston was a bit to silly to be the Doctor, unlike David Tennant and Matt Smith. David Tennant and Matt Smith can be funny but also serious when appropriate. With every regeneration they change... have different tastebuds for example, Matt Smith in his new regeneration didn't know his favorite food, and tried everything from apples to fish fingers and custard. My favorite episode would have to be A Good Man Goes to War, because it shows how powerful the Doctor is...as River Song said in this episode: "He'll rise higher than ever before and then fall so much further"

"Demons run when a good man goes to war"

What Chase thought:
I am relatively new to Doctor Who, but have enjoyed it since I started. When I just started watching, I was insanely confused and didn't get anything but as I continued I started to understand more and more. I enjoy the comedy in every episode and every doctor brings something new to the table. Through each transition of doctors, i've felt so sad because we were losing such a great character but after i saw the new doctor i was like "YES!!!!" Although, it isn't the same with the characters that travel with the doctor. No matter which one it was, i just got continually annoyed with each character. All they seemed to do is complain and ask for the doctor to save them. Even though it's annoying, it's not unbearable.

"Dream Lord: If you die in the dream world, you wake up in                                                       reality. Ask me what happens if you die in reality.
                      Rory Williams: What happens?
Dream Lord: You die, stupid. That's why it's called 'reality'."

What Josh thought:
Also being relatively new to Doctor Who, I'm not as new to the Doctor as Chase is. I have seen almost all of the doctors at least once, from the first doctor all the way to Matt Smith. Doctor Who is definitely one of my favorite Sci-Fi action shows. The show has an amazing feel to it, while some of the episodes are relatively boring. Some are actually really interesting, one of  my favorites is definitely the Weeping Angels episode. David Tennant is an amazing doctor, while I like Matt Smith a tad bit better, David Tennant has very good emotions, he can go from being serious to completely hysterical in a snap. David Tennant also has some very good quotes and he seems more into being the part of the Doctor than the others. But still, I personally like the Matt Smith and Amy Pond team. David Tennant is unpredictable, with a crazy sense of humor and never knowing what he's gonna do. And that's what I have to say about this

The Doctor: [still recently regenerated] Am I... Ginger?
Rose: No, you're just sort of... brown.
The Doctor: Aww, I wanted to be ginger. I've never been ginger. And you, Rose Tyler, fat lot of good you were. You gave up on me. Ooh, that was rude. Is that the kind of man I am now? Am I rude? Rude and not ginger?

What Cecelia thought:
I, having watched all the episodes from Christopher Eccleston to where we are now, have a very strong opinion on this show... It may be one of the greatest sci-fi shows of our generation. I have only watched some of the very old ones, but the newer ones seem to catch my interest more. Christopher Eccleston was fun, but when he did get serious I almost felt I never could connect. With David Tennant when he got serious you sat up and listened. Why, because you could feel his inner struggle with him keeping his distance and giving up and going with Rose. Matt Smith just had a good vibe from the beginning. Smith makes you laugh and smile at his charm, but when he gets angry I always feel like I’m the one he is yelling at. My one big complaint is that season 5 and 6 seem to sometimes be more about the companions (Amy and Rory). David Tennant was my favorite just because his inner struggle make me ache for he to make a decision, but yet you never want it to stop. The stories are great and the characters (most of them) are relatable. That’s it.

  2. I just have a few questions about the show. First is, what is the show all about? Who, or what, is The Doctor? What happens in the series, more specifically what does The Doctor do? What is the backstory behind The Doctor, why does he do what he does?
I have only seen a few episodes on the ScyFy channel so I have a few questions for each of the corespondents on this review. First up is James. What exactly made Christopher Eccleston so silly to you? I saw random episodes from different seasons and I would argue that without Eccleston as the first Doctor the show would have never taken off as well as it did. Second, how was the show confusing to you? Did it have multiple plot threads that constantly intertwined? Was the show more about showing through images or was it heavy on dialogue that confused you?
For Chase I have a few questions, the first one being why exactly does the dynamic between the characters annoy you so much? From what I have seen the Companions have little experience with the world outside the Earth, and when The Doctor goes to earth the Companion is, usually, always the one who has the expertise and that changes the dynamic of the characters drastically and shows the doctor that there is a use for the humans after all.
That is all the questions that I have for you right now, any one of you are free to answer the questions that were given (its not just limited to those who were asked). A follow up response and possibly a review giving a more detailed review would be appreciated, and i look forward to more of your reviews in the future.

    1. This show is all about the Time Lord known as the Doctor, the show follows the Doctor as he protects the earth throughout time and space. As for who the Doctor is...that is hard to explain as for the fact that he regenerates which changes who he is and his personality. The Doctor defends the Earth as a lot of monsters attack Earth and want to destroy, sell or many other things. There hasn't really been much backstory I would say, but what I have seen would be that during the time war between the Doctors race and the Daleks he was a deserter and because of that he landed on earth and decided to do what he can to protect it. To me Christopher Eccleston just always seemed to joke around...didn't get to serious in many episodes....I would have loved to see a lot more seriousness. The reason why we still have more is that this series is the longest running sci-fi show...this is just a continuation from the classic which started in 1963. The show was confusing because when I first started watching it I had a very closed minded but as I went along I started opening up my mind and started focusing on the fact that anything is possible with the Doctor. Hope this helped a little bit and thanks for viewing and asking these questions.

    2. The series where we started...since I don't own any of the series on dvd or blu-ray we started at Christopher Eccleston which is the 9th doctor, David Tennant being 10th generation Doctor, and Matt Smith being the 11th.
